The Wilsede Meetings “Modern Trends in Human Leukemia” started June 1973 in a 350 year old farmhouse “De Emhoff” in Wilsede.

The idea to bring together highly qualified biochemists, medical doctors, and virologists to learn, like students, about each other's fields has been very unusual. But to understand human leukemia, the virologists and biochemists have to learn more about the properties of the human blood cell, and the medical doctors have to learn where and how leukemic misinformation can influence the normal regulation of the molecular control mechanism in a blood cell.

Memories and inspirations of more than 1000 Wilsede participants, among them scientists like Tim Hunt, Bob Gallo, Harald zur Hausen, Mel Greaves, Don Pinkel or Karl Welte are documented in science-connections.com to inform and interest the coming generations of young scientist in school and university.

Seit 1973 wachsen die „Symposien Wilsede“ als Ast im DGHO Baum in zwischen mit erfolgreichen neuen Ästen, z.B. der Wilsede Schule.

In 30 Jahren haben über 1000 Wissenschaftler in Wilsede ein internationales Netzwerk für „Wissenstransfer mit sozialer Verantwortung“ aufgebaut.
